The Director General of the Customs Administration Slavica Kutirov, participated in the working meeting for implementation of the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Veterinary, Phytosanitary and Food and Animal Safety, held yesterday in Ohrid, within the two-day Open Balkans Summit.

The working meeting was chaired by the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of North Macedonia Ljupчоo Nikolovski, and was attended by the Ministers of the Republic of Albania - Frida Krifca and the Republic of Serbia - Branislav Nedimovic, alongside  representatives of national Food Safety agencies and Customs and Tax administrations of the three countries.

The meeting discussed speeding up the process of harmonizing veterinary certificates between the three Balkan countries.

In her speech, Director Kutirov informed about the activities of the Customs Administration within the Open Balkans and noted the advantages of this initiative to accelerate the flow of goods in the international supply chain. Green corridors at the border crossings for the Open Balkan countries are already operational, which is a great relief for the economic operators in import and export procedures. The focus of future activities is the implementation of the SEED + project and the system for exchange of certificates between the Open Balkan member states, as a joint activity of the customs and border inspection services.
