The Director General of the Customs Administration of the Republic of North Macedonia, Slavica Kutirov, MSc., yesterday and today participates at the 7th Informal Regional Meeting of the Directors of the Customs Administrations of the Western Balkans, held in Budva, Montenegro.

The Conference is attended by Directors and senior officials of the Customs Administrations of Montenegro, Albania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and CEFTA . The meeting is organized by the Customs Service of Montenegro, and is supported by HM Revenue and Customs.

At the meeting, Western Balkan Customs Administrations are discussing the activities related to: mutual recognition of AEO authorisations, the introduction of Green Corridors, e-commerce, CEFTA activities with particular focus on the reforms in the customs operations and the future activities of the customs services from the Western Balkan countries. On the second day of the meeting, the activities related to data exchange through the SEED system within CEFTA and activities of the customs services in the Western Balkans related to the prevention of smuggling of cigarettes and other tobacco products are presented.

The Customs Administration of the Republic of North Macedonia actively participates in all the listed activities, the realization of which requires cooperation with the customs services from all Western Balkan countries. All current and future planned activities are aimed at deepening the cooperation of the Customs Administration with the customs services from the Western Balkans, and their implementation will mean faster customs procedures, coordinated cooperation in smuggling prevention and trade and transport facilitation in the Western Balkans region.
