Today and tomorrow in Vienna, Customs Director General, Ms. Slavica Kutirov is taking part in the First Preparatory Meeting of the 30th OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum. The Forum promotes political dialogue on economic and environmental issues linked to security and contributes to the elaboration of recommendations and follow-up activities to address these challenges. The theme of this year's 30th Forum is " Promoting security and stability in the OSCE area through sustainable economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic”.

Senior representatives of the governments, state agencies, civil society, academia and business community and other international organizations of the OSCE participating States are attending the meeting.

Of great importance is the fact that in 2023, the presidency of the OSCE Council will be taken over by the Republic of North Macedonia.

The event was opened by the OSCE Chairman-in-Office  Mr. Adam Hałaciński  from Poland, as well as the OSCE Secretary General, Ms. Helga Maria Schmid. On the first day of the meeting, Director Kutirov also addressed the Session on "Supporting Sustainable Economic Recovery and Growth by Promoting Transport and Facilitating Trade". She referred to the activities of the Customs Administration aimed at trade facilitation, simplification of customs procedures, digitalization and regional cooperation.

Attendees at the First Preparatory Meeting noted that despite the progress over the past two years, the COVID-19 pandemic remains a significant challenge to prosperity and security in the OSCE region, and trade facilitation is key to supporting the recovery of countries' economies.

During the 30th OSCE Forum on Economic and Environmental Issues, to be held in September 2022, Ministers from the OSCE participating States are expected to adopt the conclusions from this First Preparatory Meeting, as well as from the Second Preparatory Meeting, which will be held later on.
