Representatives of the Customs Administration from the Sector for Control and Investigations and Customs Director General Sugareski, hosted today a meeting with representatives of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. The objective of the meeting was to discuss the activities and obligations arising from the establishment of a National Airport Interagency Group at the Skopje International Airport.

The action is implemented in cooperation with the UNODC Regional Program for South East Europe with the Container Control Program (CCP) - risk management capacity building, supply chain security and trade facilitation at ports, airports and land border crossings to prevent cross-border movement of illicit goods) by UNODC and the World Customs Organization, and the Airports Communication Project (AIRCOP - establishment of real-time operational communication between airports to prevent and combat cross-border crime and terrorism) by UNODC, the WCO and INTERPOL.

The activities in the part of the mentioned action are funded by the European Union, under the Regional Program for Southeast Europe, as a joint Action of the EU and UNODC for improved rule of law and good governance through measures for selected border controls at ports and airports. Such activities are carried out simultaneously in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, the Republic of Serbia, the Republic of North Macedonia and Kosovo.

The activities in this plan are regulated with a Letter of Agreement between the Republic of North Macedonia and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

The Customs Administration is an active participant with great responsibility, and today's meeting another confirmation and clarification of the preparatory activities carried out so far and future precise agreed actions. The World Customs Organization acts as a partner and active actor for successful implementation in the mentioned action of the EU and UNODC, through the Airport Communication Project, as well as in the Container Control Program.
