Within 28-29 January 2019, the Director General of the Customs Administration of the Republic of Macedonia participated at the third informal Regional Meeting of Western Balkans Heads of Customs, held in Podgorica, Montenegro.

The meeting, which is a continuation to the second informal regional meeting held in the Republic of Albania in June 2018 was attended by representatives of the Customs Administrations of Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and international institutions and organizations.

The Conclusions adopted during the Informal Regional Meeting of the Directors of the Law Enforcement & Control and Intelligence of the Customs Administrations of the Western Balkans Six were presented and accepted. At this meeting, that was held in October 2018 in Veles, Macedonia, the main topic of discussion were the legal aspects for defining a framework for secure information exchange under harmonized standards and methods.

Besides accepting the Conclusions of the meeting in Veles, the delegates in Podgorica also discussed preparation of a joint approach of the Customs Services from the region to facilitate trade, promote customs procedures and economic cooperation in the Western Balkans.
