On 29th October  2018, a workshop was held in Ohrid to promote the concept of Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) and its importance for the economic operators. This is the third of a series of workshops organized by the Customs Administration of the Republic of Macedonia in cooperation with the USAID Regional Economic Growth Project (REG).

The economic operators from the Ohrid region got familiarized with the benefits the AEO status brings and the fact that AEO is one of the instruments for trade facilitation. At the workshop the present were informed about the recent amendments to the Customs Law, which relate, inter alia, to the criteria for granting Authorized Economic Operator certificate and that the national regulations have been fully aligned with the corresponding provisions of the European Union legislation. Customs Director General Mr. Gjoko Tanasoski opened the workshop and pointed out that its objective is to inform the economic operators about the factors that should be taken into account when using the concept of Authorized Economic Operator, and to present all the benefits and advantages of the AEO status.

Aiming to promote trade facilitation in conditions of globalized trade and economic connection among countries, the Customs Administration, with the support of the USAID Regional Economic Growth Project, will continue to organize similar events to inform the business community about the AEO concept.
