Today, 24th October 2018, the Customs Administration of the Republic of Macedonia promoted the advantages and benefits from the implementation of the concept of Authorized Economic Operator before representatives of the Macedonian Chambers of Commerce member companies.

The topic of the meeting, organized in cooperation between the Macedonian Chambers of Commerce and the Customs Administration, was "Authorized Economic Operator - a new trend in customs operations, challenges, experiences and simplification of customs operations". The participants had the opportunity to hear that the concept of Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) is one of the recognized and efficient instruments for trade facilitation and that the current national legislation for its implementation are fully harmonized with the regulations of the European Union Customs Code.

The event was opened by Customs Director General, Mr. Gjoko Tanasoski and the the President of the Macedonian Chambers of Commerce, Ms. Danela Arsovska.

The benefits for the companies that will be granted the status of Authorized Economic Operator are: reduced number of document checks and control of goods, submission of "pre-arrival information” before lodging the customs declaration" thus allowing release of goods for free circulation before payment the customs and import duties, as well as the possibility for periodic submission of the customs declaration.

Being aware of the importance of the AEO concept and the opportunities it provides for the economic operators, The Customs Administration  will continue to further develop this concept, promote it to the business community and provide assistance and support to all interested operators on the one hand, and to modernize and upgrade the Customs Service itself in the implementation of the responsibilities related to the AEO concept, on the other.
