In the last three weeks, the customs officers prevented several attempts for smuggling various goods, seizing archaeological and ethnological objects, gold jewelry, cash, electric tools and appliances, car parts, motorcycle, pharmaceuticals, dentistry materials, shampoo, soaps, sunglasses, contact lenses, lens fluid, toys, clothing, cigarettes and counterfeits.

The following goods were seized:

Archaeological objects

- 98 archaeological objects were detected at the border crossing point Tabanovce Motorway, during control, conducted in cooperation with members of the border police of an Austrian registered car, with one Macedonian and one Austrian citizen who arrive for exit from the country. 68 old coins and 9 different archeological items (ring, brooches, bracelets, parts of weighing scales, etc.) were found in the factory compartments of the car, for which the driver claimed ownership, while in a small case that belonged to the other passenger, the customs officers found 20 ancient coins and an ancient button. The case was handed over to the Ministry of Interior for further action.

Cigarettes and heroin

- 155 cartons of Marlboro cigarettes without excise stamps, found at the Skopje International Airport, during control of the checked luggage of a Macedonian citizen who intended to fly to London. The undeclared cigarettes were seized and an appropriate procedure will be initiated against the passenger.

- 18 cartons of Marlboro cigarettes without excise stamps, detected by a mobile Customs team, during inspection of a Macedonian registered truck, driven by a Macedonian citizen, declared for entrance into the country at the Bogorodica border crossing point. The undeclared cigarettes found on the upper bed in the driver’s cab of the vehicle were seized and a misdemeanor procedure will be initiated against the driver.

The Mobile Customs Teams in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior prevented an attempt for smuggling of heroin. During control carried out with a customs drug-sniffing dog of a Macedonian-registered bus, declared for entrance in the country at the border crossing Tabanovce Motorway, in a plastic bag attached to the armrest on one of the bus seats, the customs officers found two small bags of brown powder substance weighing about 15 grams. The analysis of the substance showed presence of heroin. The heroine, and the owner of the bag, a Macedonian citizen traveling on the bus, were handed over to the Ministry of Interior for further action.

Gold jewelry and foreign cash

- 10 bracelets of 22 carat gold weighing 276 grams and worth about 650 thousand denars, were detected during control of a Macedonian bus, traveling from Istanbul to Ohrid, declared for entrance in the country at the border crossing point Bogorodica. The undeclared gold bracelets were found wrapped in a sock, placed in a handbag of an Australian citizen of Macedonian origin who traveled on the bus. They were impounded and criminal charges will be brought against the passenger.

- 5,400 Swiss Francs, detected by a mobile customs team, during personal search of a Macedonian citizen who arrived at the Skopje International Airport from Zurich. In the passenger's jacket pocket, the customs officers found 17,400 Swiss francs, of which 12,000 Swiss francs were returned to him in accordance with the law, equivalent to 10,000 Euros, as an amount that can be freely taken into the country. A misdemeanor procedure will be initiated against the passenger for the committed foreign currency offense.

Sunglasses, lenses, lens fluid and toys

- 530 pairs of sunglasses and 48 children's balls, found during control of a Macedonian registered car, with two Macedonian citizens who arrived for entry at the border crossing point Dojran. The undeclared goods, of which 30 pairs of glasses bearing marks of protected trademarks, were found in a hand bag, two bags and a handbag, owned by the passenger in the vehicle. They were temporarily detained and a misdemeanor procedure will be initiated against the passenger. At the same time, a procedure for determination of their authenticity will be initiated for the glasses bearing marks of protected trademarks, suspected of infringing intellectual property rights.

- 106 optical contact lenses and 24 packs of 360 ml fluid for maintenance of contact lenses, detected during inspection of a Macedonian registered car, driven by a Macedonian citizen, declared for entrance at the border crossing point Novo Selo. The undeclared goods, found under the front seats, in the glove compartment and those on the front doors, have been seized, and a misdemeanor procedure will be initiated against the driver.

Erectile dysfunction medications, dental materials, soaps and shampoos

- 175 Kamagra-Oral jelly bags of 100 mg, detected by a Mobile Customs Team, during control of a Bulgarian registered car, driven by a Macedonian citizen, declared for entrance at the border crossing point Novo Selo. The undeclared medications, found in a bag in the boot among the remaining luggage, were seized, and a request for initiation of a misdemeanor procedure will be filed against the driver.

- 2.648 dental materials (drills, implant keys and implant pads) detected during control of a Macedonian registered car, driven by a Macedonian citizen, declared for entrance at the border crossing point Tabanovce Motorway. The undeclared goods, found behind the co-driver's seat, on the back seat and in the boot of the vehicle, were seized, and criminal charges will be brought against the driver.

- 1,600 shampoos of 25 ml and 1,000 soaps of 15 grams, detected by the mobile customs teams, during control of a Macedonian automobile driven by a Macedonian citizen, declared for entrance at the border crossing point Kjafasan. The undeclared goods, found in 5 boxes located behind the front seats and in the boot, were seized, and a request for initiation of a misdemeanor procedure will be filed against the driver.

Tools and appliances, motorcycle and automobile spare parts

- 53 electric tools, 5 electrical appliances, 1 disassembled motorcycle and 11 ethnological objects detected in two separate cases at the border crossing point Tabanovce Motorway

In the first case, during inspection of a Bulgarian registered car, driven by a Macedonian citizen, declared for entrance in the country, the customs officers found 53 electrical tools (lawn mower, grinders, garden scissors, pistols, wheel pistol etc.) and 5 electrical appliances (battery charger, insect appliances and micro oven) in the boot and between the seats of the vehicle.

In the second case, during inspection of a Macedonian registered car with trailer on temporary plates, driven by a Macedonian citizen, declared for entrance in the country, 1 disassembled motorcycle Suzuki R GSX 750 cm3 and 11 old ethnological household items (stones, iron, candle holder etc.) were found

In both cases, the undeclared goods were seized, and appropriate procedures will be initiated against the perpetrators.

- 12 spare parts for passenger vehicles (air compressor, alternator, belt, tensioners, spark plugs and reel), found during inspection of a Macedonian truck-tipper, driven by a Macedonian citizen, declared for entrance at the border crossing point Novo Selo. The undeclared goods, found on the bed and in the factory compartment in the driver’s cab, were seized and a a misdemeanor procedure will be initiated against the driver.

- 2 Bosch Pumps for Ford Tranzi vehicle, found during inspection of a Macedonian car, driven by a Macedonian citizen, declared for entrance at the border crossing point Jazince. The pumps, found under the seats of the vehicle, were seized, and a misdemeanor procedure was initiated against the driver.

- 1 KORG synthesizer, detected at the Skopje International Airport, during control of the passenger bags of a Macedonian citizen who arrived by flight from Malmo. The undeclared instrument was detained, and a misdemeanor procedure will be initiated against the passenger

Apparel

- 496 pieces of apparel (underwear, blouses, trousers and dresses), found during inspection of a Macedonian truck, driven by a Macedonian citizen, declared for entrance in the country at the border crossing point Bogorodica. The undeclared goods, found in several black bags, placed on the upper bed and under the lower bed in the driver’s cab, have been seized and an appropriate procedure will be initiated against the driver.

- 307 pieces of clothing detected in two separate cases by the Mobile Customs Teams, during control of two cars declared for entry in the country.

In the first case, during inspection carried out at the border crossing Tabanovce Motorway, 235 pieces of apparel (hats, T-shirts and aprons) were found in the roof rack of the vehicle in an Italian car driven by a Macedonian citizen.

In the second case, during inspection,l carried out at the border crossing point Bogorodica, in a Macedonian registered car driven by a Macedonian citizen, the customs officers found 72 pieces of apparel (underwear, shorts and pants) in the boot of the vehicle.

In both cases, the undeclared goods were impounded and requests for initiation of a misdemeanor procedure were filed against the drivers.

- 42 pieces of men's underwear bearing logo of a protected trademark, found during the control of a Macedonian registered car, driven by a Macedonian citizen, declared for entrance at the border crossing point Jazince. The undeclared goods were seized, and a misdemeanor procedure was initiated against the driver. At the same time, a procedure was initiated to determine the authenticity of the products.

Goods suspected of infringing intellectual property rights

- 1,000 watches bearing logo of protected trademark, found in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, during inspection of a Macedonian registered car, driven by a Macedonian citizen, declared for exit from the country at the border crossing point Blace. The products, found in the boot of the vehicle, covered with textile materials, have been seized and according to the law, a procedure will be initiated to determine their authenticity. In addition, 818 pairs of glasses with diopter, 100 battery shock lamps and 95 packages of aroma for hookah were also found in the boot of the vehicle, which were also impounded. A misdemeanor procedure will be initiated against the driver.

- 66 mobile phones detected at the Customs Office Aerodrom Skopje - section for clearance of goods, during inspection of a shipment from Dubai, intended for a natural person from Prishtina. The phones were temporarily detained for determination of their authenticity.

- 90 pairs of women's pajamas bearing the logo of a protected trademark, found during control of a Turkish registered truck loaded with goods destined for a company from Kosovo, declared for entrance into the country at the border crossing point Bogorodica. The products were temporarily seized and in accordance with the law, a procedure will be initiated to determine their authenticity.
