During last two weeks, the customs officers prevented several attempts for smuggling of various goods, temporarily seizing foreign currencies, parts for combine harvesters and excavators, technical goods, computer parts, tattoo equipment, clothing, cigarettes and fresh mushrooms.

The following goods were seized:

Foreign currencies

- 7,300 Euros, detected at the border crossing point Bogorodica, during inspection of a German car and a personal search of the driver - a Greek national who arrived for entry into the country. Asked by the customs officers if he had anything to declare to Customs, the driver declared that he was had 400 Euros. During the inspection of the vehicle, in a compartment between the front seats the customs officers found 15,500 Euros, and 1,800 euros on the driver. 10,000 Euros were returned to the person, an amount that a non-resident can freely bring into the country and a request for initiation of a misdemeanor procedure has been filed for the committed foreign currency offense.

Cigarettes
- 70 cartons of cigarettes, found in three separate cases at the Skopje International Airport, during inspection of the checked luggage of three Macedonian citizens, declared for exit from the country.
In the first case, 30 boxes of cigarettes with Macedonian excise stamps were found in a suitcase of a passenger who intended to travel by flight to Malmö, in the second case in a suitcase of a passenger who intended to travel by flight to London, the customs officers found 25 cartons of cigarettes (15 with Macedonian excise stamps and 10 without excise stamps), while in the third case 15 cartons of cigarettes with Macedonian excise stamps were found during the control of a suitcase of a passenger who intended to fly to London.
In all three cases, the cigarettes have been seized, and the offenders will be prosecuted.

Parts for combine harvesters and excavators
- 191 spare parts for combine harvesters detected during control of a Macedonian truck loaded with goods declared for import customs clearance at the Customs Office Medjitlija. The undeclared goods, found in the cabin of the vehicle, were seized, and a misdemeanor procedure will be initiated against the driver - a Macedonian citizen.
- used hydraulic pump for excavator, detected during control of a Bulgarian car, driven by a Macedonian citizen, declared for entrance at the border crossing Tabanovce Motorway. The undeclared pump, found in a bag placed in the boot of the vehicle, was seized and a misdemeanor procedure was initiated against the driver.

Technical goods and tattoo equipment

- 182 pieces of technical goods, detected in two separate cases at the border crossing point Tabanovce Motorway, during control of two buses declared for entrance in the country. In the first case, during control of a Serbian registered bus, traveling from Belgrade to Skopje, 1 display port Dell WD15, 15 headphones and 15 headphone cables were found in the luggage compartment. The undeclared goods that belonged to a Macedonian citizen traveling on the bus, were seized and a misdemeanor procedure was initiated against the passenger.

In the second case, during control of a Danish registered bus traveling from Copenhagen to Tetovo, 149 pieces of various computer parts (ram-memory, processors, network cards and hard drives), 1 laptop and 1 mobile phone were found in the luggage area of the bus. The undeclared goods that belonged to Macedonian citizen – bus passenger, were handed over to the Control and Investigation Sector of the Customs Administration for further processing.
- 2 second-hand tattoo machines, 1 second-hand tattoo machine transformer and 102 tattoo needles, detected by a Mobile Customs Team during control of a Bulgarian registered car driven by a Bulgarian citizen, declared for entry into the country at the border crossing point Novo Selo. The undeclared goods found in a backpack, placed in the boot of the vehicle were seized, and a request for initiation of a misdemeanor procedure will be filed against the driver

Apparel
- 725 pieces of apparel (pajamas, tracksuits and bathrobes), detected by a Mobile Customs Team during control of goods originating in Turkey, destined for a Skopje based company, declared for import customs clearance at the Customs Office Gevgelija. The products, which were not included by the customs documents, were seized, and a request for initiation of a misdemeanor procedure will be initiated against the importer.
In addition, 87 children's sets bearing logo of protected trademarks were found among the regularly declared goods, and these have also been temporarily detained on suspicion of violation of intellectual property rights. The Customs Administration will initiate a procedure to determine the authenticity of the products in question.
- 64 pieces of clothing (blouses, trousers and skirts), detected at the Skopje International Airport during control of the passenger bags of a Macedonian citizen who arrived from Vienna. The undeclared goods were seized and a misdemeanor procedure will be initiated against the passenger.

Fresh mushrooms

- 67 kg of fresh mushrooms, found during control of an empty Macedonian cargo van driven by a Macedonian citizen, declared for entrance at the border crossing point Tabanovce Motorway. The undeclared mushrooms, found in several bags placed in the load area and under the co-driver's seat were seized, and an appropriate procedure will be initiated against the driver.
