In the 2020 Investment Climate Report: North Macedonia, the State Department commends the Customs Administration in the part related to digitalization by using  automated electronic customs clearance process, which allows businesses to monitor the status of their applications and deterring  corruption to a maximal degree. It is also noted that there is no discriminatory export or import policy affecting foreign investors and almost 96 percent of total foreign trade is unrestricted.

The Customs Administration of the Republic of North Macedonia is continuously introducing new information systems related to the implementation of customs procedures. Electronic processes eliminate human factor errors and opportunities for corrupt practices, and the main goal is to achieve simplification and rationalization of all customs processes and procedures by implementing an electronic and paperless environment.
