Over the past three weeks, the customs officers detected several attempts for smuggling goods, seizing cigarettes, hookah tobacco, clothes, technical products, cosmetics and counterfeits.

The following was seized:

 

Cigarettes and hookah tobacco

- 100 boxes of Pall Mall cigarettes with Macedonian excise stamps seized by members of the Macedonian Army. While patrolling near the place known as Plantaja Vladaja near the border crossing point Star Dojran, a person on a bicycle was seen carrying two plastic bags. When he noticed the patrol, the person fled, leaving the bicycle and the two bags full of cigarettes. The case was reported to the police officers from the border crossing point, and the cigarettes were handed over to the mobile customs teams.

- 10.5 kilograms of aromatized hookah tobacco and about 1 kilogram of coal, found during control of a Macedonian registered car, driven by a Macedonian national, at the border crossing point Kjafasan entrance section. The undeclared products, found in 10 plastic buckets placed in front of the front passenger seat and behind the driver's seat, have been temporarily detained, and a misdemeanour procedure will be initiated against the driver.

Clothes

- 99 pieces of women's clothing (dresses, shirts, blouses, jeans, trousers and tracksuits), found at Skopje International Airport, during control of two bags and a suitcase, owned by a citizen of the United States of America who arrived from Istanbul. The undeclared products were seized and a misdemeanour procedure will be initiated against the passenger.

- 116 pieces of men's clothing (jackets, blouses and sweatshirts), found at the Skopje International Airport, during control of the luggage of a Kosovo citizen who arrived from Istanbul. The undeclared products were seized and a misdemeanour procedure will be initiated against the passenger.

- 25 sets of men's and women's tracksuits and 15 pieces of men's and women's tracksuits, found during control of a Macedonian truck driven by a Macedonian national, declared for entry at the border crossing point Novo Selo. The undeclared goods, found in bags have been seized and an appropriate procedure will be initiated against the driver.

Technical goods

- 40 cable television modules HUAWEI EchoLife HG8012H, found during control of a Macedonian registered car, driven by a Macedonian national, at the border crossing point Tabanovce Motorway, entrance section. The undeclared products, found in the trunk of the vehicle were seized and an appropriate procedure will be initiated against the driver.

- 24 cameras and 6 receivers for video surveillance, detected in cooperation with the border police, during control of an empty Macedonian truck, driven by a Macedonian national, declared for entry at the border crossing point Delchevo. The undeclared goods were found on the windscreen of the cab, under the mattress and in a specially made compartment behind the driver's seat. They were temporarily detained and a misdemeanour procedure will be initiated against the driver.

- 191 keys for passenger vehicles, 4 passenger vehicle key readers and 8 pieces of TV-box, found in two separate cases at the Skopje International Airport during control of the luggage of two Turkish citizens who arrived by flight from Istanbul.

In the first case, 156 uncut keys, 35 non-encoded chip keys and 4 passenger car key readers were found, while in the second case, 8 pieces of KRAMER TP-580RXR TV-box were found.

In both cases, the undeclared goods were seized and misdemeanour proceedings were initiated against the passengers.

Cosmetics

- 540 ampoules of Collagen, found during control of a Bulgarian registered car, driven by a Macedonian national, at the border crossing point Novo Selo, entrance section. The undeclared goods, found in the trunk of the vehicle, under the upholstery and in the spare tire compartment, have been seized and an appropriate procedure will be initiated against the driver.

Goods suspected of infringing intellectual property rights

- 800 car lamps and 2,000 plastic license plate holders bearing marks of protected trademarks, found during control of a Turkish truck, loaded with goods of Turkish origin destined for an importer from Albania, declared for entry at the border crossing point Bogorodica. Due to suspicion that the products violate intellectual property rights, they were temporarily detained, and pursuant the regulations, a procedure will be initiated to determine their authenticity.
