Tariff quotas

Taking into account the provisions on import of goods under quota of the Stabilization and Association Agreement between the Republic of Macedonia and the European Communities, the Agreement on the Amendment of and Accession to the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA), the Free Trade Agreements that the Republic of Macedonia has signed with Turkey, Ukraine and EFTA countries and Partnership, Trade and Cooperation Agreement between the Republic of North Macedonia and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the import in the Republic of Macedonia of certain agricultural products, originating in the countries of the European Union, the EFTA countries and the Republic of Turkey is liberalized under tariff quota, according to the principle "first come, first served", i.e. the import of certain agricultural products within the agreed annual quantities is either relieved from import duties or it is subject to lower import duties.

Pursuant to the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia on the manner and procedure for distribution of goods within tariff quotas, List of goods under tariff quotas in quarterly quantities that will be allocated according to the principle "first come, first served” are published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia twice a year. The unused quantities of quota at the end of each quarter are transferred in the first coming quarter (period of three months) as addition to the determined quantity of goods from the List of goods of tariff quotas.

As per the obligations arising from the Protocol of Accession of the Republic of Macedonia to the World Trade Organization (WTO), duty-free import of wheat is envisaged within the frames of the annual fixed quantities of tariff quota. Pursuant to the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia on the manner and procedure for distribution of goods within tariff quota, a List of goods in customs quota under the Protocol of Accession of the Republic of Macedonia in the WTO is published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia once a year.
