Intellectual property

One of the main priorities of the Customs Administration of the Republic of Macedonia is to enhance the institutional and administrative capacities for efficient and effective fight against counterfeiting and piracy through stricter customs control measures to detect goods violating intellectual property rights subject to import, transit and export, as well as through closer cooperation with the holders of rights and their representatives in the Republic of Macedonia on one part, and all responsible national and foreign institutions on the other.

Counterfeit and pirated goods are harmful to the human health and security and lead to poorer collection of budget revenues and grey economy. They can be recognized by their lower value, unsatisfying quality, bad shape of their package, technical errors in the text of the used labels and marks. For the results achieved in the fight against counterfeiting and piracy, the Customs Administration of the Republic of Macedonia was awarded by the Yolanda Benitez WCO Trophy 2009 Combating Counterfeiting and Piracy, in competition of 174 evaluated WCO members.</p

Donation of goods

The Law on Customs Measures for Protection of Intellectual Property Rights stipulates a possibility for donation of textile articles and shoes classified in the Chapters 61, 62 and 64 of the Customs Nomenclature of the Customs Tariff Law, provided that the legally defined relevant conditions are met.
