History
Until 1991, the customs service operated within the former Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY). After the proclamation of independence of the Republic of Macedonia, on 14th April 1992 the Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia adopted the Customs Law establishing the Customs Administration of the Republic of Macedonia, which from that moment acquired sovereignty and control over the entire customs territory of the Republic of Macedonia.
This day – 14th April is celebrated as the Customs Day.
In 2022, the Customs Administration marked its 30th anniversary of its establishment with the publication of a “Monograph 1992-2022". President Stevo Pendarovski awarded the Customs Administration with a Charter for 30 years of fundamental and invaluable contribution in protecting the society and modernization and development of the economy, by protecting and achieving the financial interests of the state and its citizens.
