A closing ceremony of the one-week training course under the auspices of the US Embassy Export Control and Related Border Security Program (EXBS) was held today in Skopje. The training course was aimed at upgrading the knowledge and skills of customs officers in the fight against the spread and prevention of illicit trade.

Participants in the training course were customs officers from North Macedonia, Serbia and Kosovo who had the opportunity to get acquainted with the analysis of specific cases and topics for monitoring non-verbal behavior and interviewing techniques in detecting cases of illicit trade.

US Ambassador H.E. Kate Marie Byrns and the Director General of the Customs Administration Slavica Kutirov MSc., addressed the trainees at the closing ceremony, emphasizing the support of the US Embassy for the Customs Administration through various activities and projects continuously in all areas of customs operations, as well as the fact that successful application of newly acquired techniques will contribute to increasing the officers’  security in conducting the tasks and will lead to successful prevention of all forms of organized crime and illicit trafficking.
