Last week in Belgrade, representatives of the Customs Administration of the Republic of North Macedonia took part in a regional meeting of CEFTA member states, organized by the CEFTA Secretariat and the German Association for International Cooperation GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft fürInternationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH).

The main topics of discussion at the working meetings were: the Customs Procedures Risk Strategy, as well as the grounds for launching the Pilot project within "SEED +" for exchange of phytosanitary certificates between the phytosanitary agencies of the CEFTA member countries.

The draft Decision establishing electronic system for facilitating joint risk management in trade in goods was also discussed, which envisages establishment of a database for identified customs irregularities and violations, exchange of data on common risk profiles, system for rapid alerting, as well as exchange of data on the results of conducted controls between the customs authorities of the CEFTA parties.

The basic guidelines for launching the pilot project for exchange of phytosanitary certificates between CEFTA countries were harmonized, through the use of the European platform TRACES NT. The pilot project will start on 4th July this year and will last for two months. The implementation team of the SEED + platform will carry out preparatory activities in the period from 13 to 17 June involving visits of CEFTA countries where the procedures will be presented in order for all involved parties to prepare and get acquainted with the project.
