Today, the USAID Project: Partnership for Better Business Regulation organized an online presentation of the results of the 5th Annual Business Environment Assessment in the country.

The research is the most comprehensive domestic analysis of the situation with the legislation, the compliance of companies with regulations, the work of the inspection agencies, measures to combat the grey economy, public procurement, labor relations, tax policy and the availability of information on legal amendments, which are key to favorable business climate. More than 3,000 companies were invited to participate in the research, receiving 543,000 valid answers, used for analysis and preparation of the Report.

This project is successfully implemented by the EPI CENTER in partnership with the Economic Chamber of Macedonia, ICT Chamber of Commerce - MASIT, Economic Chamber of Northwest Macedonia and the Association of Chambers of Commerce, with the support of USAID.

The Respondents were also asked for their opinion on series of regulations and it was concluded that in the five-year period all the regulations have improved. The area with the highest degree of regulation improvement is the customs regulation with 25 percentage points.

To meet the interests of the business sector, the importance of the capacities of the chambers is very important. Over the past five years, the involvement of the chambers in the process of adopting legislation has increased by 11 percentage points.
