Delegation of the Customs Administration of the Republic of Macedonia, led by Director General Gjoko Tanasoski, took part in the 15th Meeting of the Subcommittee on Trade, Industry, Customs and Taxation held in Skopje on 13th November 2018.

In the part of the Customs Union, within the framework of the Subcommittee meeting, the Director General of the Customs Administration informed the representatives of the European Commission on the progress in the legislation, institutional and administrative capacity of the Customs Administration, current initiatives for trade facilitation, strengthening of the regional cooperation, maintenance of IT systems.

There were discussions on the progress and future activities in the development of the Customs Declaration and Excise Documents Processing System (CDEPS), the maintenance and development of information systems for transit and integrated tariff environment. The participants at the meeting were informed about the ongoing EU-supported infrastructure projects and their impact on accelerating border and customs procedures. The participants were also informed about the novelties concerning the introduction of the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) and the activities for mutual recognition of AEO within the CEFTA region. The European Commission informed about the novelties in the legislation at European Union level.
