During the past two weeks, the customs officers prevented several attempts for smuggling of various goods, seizing keys for motor vehicles, routers, cigarettes, clothing, jewellery and church items.

The following goods were seized:

Keys for passenger vehicles and routers

- 268 uncovered keys for passenger vehicles and 235 different chips thereof, detected during inspection of a Kosovo registered car, driven by a Kosovo citizen, declared for entrance at the border crossing point Deve Bair. The undeclared goods, found in factory cavities under the front and back seats and in a bag, were seized, and a request for initiation of a misdemeanor procedure will be filed against the driver.

- 20 routers and 10 wi-fi antennas detected during inspection of an Albanian registered car, driven by an Albanian citizen, declared for entrance at the border crossing point Kjafasan. The undeclared goods, found in cardboard boxes placed in the boot of the vehicle, were seized and a misdemeanor procedure will be initiated against the driver.

Cigarettes

- 20 boxes of RODEO cigarettes with Macedonian excise stamps, found during inspection of a Bulgarian registered car, driven by a Bulgarian citizen, declared for exit from the country at the border crossing point Tabanovce Motorway. The undeclared cigarettes, found in a specially designed place for concealment inside the floor of the vehicle, have been seized and appropriate proceedings will be initiated against the driver.

- 6 boxes of Marlboro cigarettes without excise stamps and 1,000 meters of edging band, found during inspection of a Serbian registered truck, driven by a Serbian citizen, declared for entrance in the country at the border crossing point Dojran. The undeclared goods, found in the cab above the upper bed and in the compartments under the lower bed, were seized, and a request for initiating a misdemeanor procedure was filed against the driver.

Clothing and jewelery

- 436 pieces of clothing and jewelery detected by the mobile customs teams, during control of two Macedonian registered cars.

In the first case, 200 t-shirts were found in four cardboard boxes placed behind the front seats and the back seat of a car driven by a Macedonian citizen, declared for entrance at the border crossing point Delchevo.

In the second case, 115 pieces of jewelery (bracelets, chains, earrings and rings), 9 hair extensions, 24 sets of eyelashes and 88 boxes with different jewellery were found in plastic bags placed in the back seats of a car driven by a Macedonian citizen at the border crossing Blace.

In both cases, the undeclared goods were seized, and requests for initiation of misdemeanor procedures will be brought against drivers.

Church items

- 20 pieces of various church items (wall chandeliers, candles, cups, candlesticks, church gospel, scepter top, carpets, framed icons and one set of communion), 4 kg of metal balls, 20 kilograms of gowns and 41 kg incense, found during control of a Bosnian registered truck, driven by a Bosnian citizen, declared for entrance at the border crossing point Dojran. The undeclared goods, found in the cab in a compartment above the windscreen and above the upper bed, as well as in the pallet box, have been seized, and an appropriate procedure will be initiated against the driver.
