Yesterday (3rd October 2018), a mobile customs team seized large quantity of marijuana and hashish at the border crossing Bogorodica.

At 12.30 p.m., a passenger motor vehicle with Albanian license plates, driven and owned by O.L.accompanied by A.J., both Albanian nationals arrived at the border crossing point Bogorodica, exit section. They did not declare anything for customs control. The customs inspectors from the Operational Matters Department of the Control and Investigation Sector proceeded to detailed inspection of the vehicle. During the search, in a specially made space in the floor of the vehicle, they found 49 packages of green plant substance, wrapped in black foil, which following the analysis was confirmed to be 34.6 kilograms of marijuana and 9.8 kilos of hashish.

The drugs were purchased in the Republic of Albania and were destined for the illegal market in the Greece and the Turkey. The price of the seized drug on the black market in Macedonia would amount to about 65 thousand Euros, while in Greece - twice as high and in Turkey three times higher.

Since the beginning of 2018 until now, the Customs Administration has seized 662 kilograms of Marijuana, with largest seizure in January (309.6 kg) at the border crossing point Bogorodica.

The Customs Administration of the Republic of Macedonia filed criminal charges against the persons for "Unauthorized production and release for sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors".
