On 30th March 2018, a working meeting was organised in the premises of the Customs Administration in order to introduce the provisions of the new Draft Law on Excise, which is in the final phase of harmonization. The meeting was attended by producers and importers of alcoholic beverages in the Republic of Macedonia.

At the meeting, the companies were familiarized with the provisions proposed with the new Draft Law on Excise Duties: payment of the excise duty by submitting an excise declaration after release of the goods on the market and the new manner of administration of the excise stamps, the deadlines, as well as the changes that will occur with the introduction of a new customs declarations and excise documents processing system. The company representatives showed great interest in the novelties, foreseen with the Draft Law and the possibility for simplification and acceleration of the excise procedures with the introduction of the new system. The proposals given by them will be taken into consideration for possible implementation in the Draft Law or in the bylaws that will stem from the Law.

The Customs Administration will continue to organize meetings with the representatives of companies dealing with excise goods to familiarize them with the new Draft Law on Excise Duties and to align the provisions with the proposals and opinions of the business community, and then the Draft law will be published on the single electronic national registry of regulations (Portal ENER) for public consideration.
